muupo Terms of Use

This is an English translation for reference. The Japanese version is the official version; if they differ, the Japanese version prevails.

These terms set out the conditions for using the iPhone app “muupo” (the “App”) provided by ORCADOT, K.K. (“we”). By using the App, you agree to these terms.

1. About the App

• The App blocks the apps and other content you choose for the time you set, and a creature on the screen (an ikimono, called a muu) grows according to that time.
• Blocking uses iOS Screen Time. Because of how iOS works, some apps such as Phone and Settings cannot be blocked, and a block may start or end late. We do not guarantee that blocking always works perfectly.
• The App is designed to be used by a person on their own device. It cannot be used to manage another person’s device.

2. Accounts

• The App identifies users with an anonymous identifier it generates. You do not need to register a name or email address.
• You may optionally use Sign in with Apple to move your data when you change devices.

3. Paid service (Plus)

• Plus is an auto-renewing subscription, available monthly or yearly. Prices for your country or region are shown on the purchase screen and in the App Store (in Japan, 390 yen per month or 3,000 yen per year, tax included).
• Purchases, renewals, cancellations and refunds follow Apple’s App Store rules. You can cancel in your iPhone’s Settings (Apple Account → Subscriptions). We cannot cancel or refund individually.
• When a free trial ends, you will be charged automatically unless you cancel. The trial terms are shown on the purchase screen.
• When Plus ends, Plus-only settings (a second or later schedule, the allow list, and Plus-only charm parts) stop working, but they are saved and come back if you start Plus again. The ikimono you have raised and your records are not lost.

4. One-time purchases

• “Pick transform” is a consumable purchase (200 yen in Japan, tax included; the price for your region is shown on the purchase screen). One purchase transforms your ikimono once into the kind you choose, and it is used right away. Refunds follow Apple’s rules.

5. Referral program

• A person who starts with a referral code gets 1 month of Plus, and the person who referred them gets 1 month of Plus for each successful referral (up to 3 months in total). A referral is successful when the new person enters the code within 7 days of installing the App and starts their first block. When rewards are given is shown in the App.
• We may cancel rewards in cases such as referring yourself, faking referrals with multiple devices or identifiers, or distributing codes improperly.
• We may change or end the referral program with advance notice.

6. Prohibited conduct

• Modifying, reverse engineering or gaining unauthorized access to the App
• Misusing the referral program or purchases
• Copying, distributing or selling the App’s images, characters or text without our permission
• Any use that violates laws or public order and morals

7. Intellectual property

Rights to the images, characters (muu), text, music and programs in the App belong to us or their rightful owners. Images you create with the App’s sharing features may be used for personal sharing.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

• The App is provided as is. We do not guarantee that the App fits any particular purpose, is accurate, or is free of bugs or interruptions.
• The App does not guarantee any effect on studying, focus or sleep.

8-2. Limitation of liability

• If you suffer damage related to the App for reasons attributable to us, we will compensate for that damage.
• However, if the damage is caused by our negligence (excluding gross negligence), our compensation is limited to direct and ordinary damage actually incurred, up to the greater of the amount you paid us for the App in the 12 months before the damage occurred (including amounts paid through the App Store) or 10,000 yen.
• The limitation above does not apply in cases of our intent or gross negligence.

9. Changes and termination

We may change the App or these terms, or stop providing the App. We will announce important changes in the App or on the website.

10. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. The district court with jurisdiction over your address, or the district court with jurisdiction over our head office, will be the court of first instance for disputes about the App.

The Japanese version of these terms is the official version. If a translation differs from the Japanese version, the Japanese version prevails.
